(More customer reviews)When I first picked it up, this felt like a good solid knife, and the shape of the handle fit my hand very well. Unlike some other inexpensive santoku knives, it does have the dimples on both sides.
I cut some broccoli with it and noticed that the blade wobbled a bit. In fact, I could grab the blade and move it back and forth as if it were on a hinge. Then I saw the crack. At the front of the handle, where the metal narrows down to go between the black handle pieces, the blade was nearly cracked through, top and bottom. There was my "hinge".
The way the blade wobbled, it wouldn't take long for metal fatigue to carry that crack the rest of the way through and give the delightful experience of having the blade break off while using it.
Obviously, Cuisinart's Chinese manufacturer needs to tighten up their quality control a bit.
